WHO WE ARE

We are Photonic Racing. A team of three students from Blue Mountains Grammar School in NSW, competing in the F1 in Schools™ STEM Challenge in 2020/21. We have all competed in this competition before in previous years in other teams, these were: Thrust Vector, Paradoxum and Awaken. We found the whole experience so amazing that we decided to form a new team, Photonic Racing. We have already competed at the Western Sydney Regional Finals, won several awards at the NSW State Finals, and have qualified for the Australian National Finals in April 2021.

THE F1 IN SCHOOLS™ STEM CHALLENGE

F1 in Schools™ is the largest high school STEM competition in the world, with over 17000 schools in 51 countries getting involved. This competition fosters and improves student's skills, experience and knowledge in technology, engineering, project management, leadership, marketing, communication, and graphic design.

The project is based around designing, constructing, and racing a miniature F1® car capable of reaching speeds over 100 kilometres per hour, but teams must also create a team brand, construct displays, conduct numerous interviews and presentations, and meticulously document all work in a set of portfolios.

The higher stages of the competition are heavily endorsed by and integrated into actual Formula One, with National and World Finals events held alongside an F1® Grand Prix.

SUPPORT US

SPONSORSHIP

A significant part of the F1 in Schools™ competition is that teams must fundraise through sponsorship. Teams not only require funds to pay for portfolio printing, car manufacturing resources, displays, and more, but sponsorship is assessed in its own right.

We want to help develop a beneficial and long lasting relationship with our sponsors, and provide them with exceptional recognition for their sponsorship of our team. The F1 in Schools™ competition offers unique opportunities to showcase brands and products to local, statewide and nationwide communities, as well as the education and STEM communities. We offer a wide range of return on investment options.

If you are interested in sponsoring us, take a look at our sponsorship prospectus. We appreciate the generosity of all our sponsors, and they are crucial to our success as a team.

MENTORSHIP

Monetary support isn’t everything, and we would love some assistance and mentoring from industry professionals, since working with, and gaining skills from industry is a core part of the competition.

Whatever the profession, be it engineering, design, manufacturing, painting, marketing, graphic design, display design, project management or communication, our team will greatly appreciate the time and effort businesses or individuals take to mentor our team.

We already have ongoing mentorships with a variety of companies, such as SimScale, Teaching Tech, and Keyshot. We are always looking to expand our industry connections to not only learn from industry and improve our team, but to also inform ourselves about our future career paths and opportunities.

If you are interested in mentoring our team, it would be wonderful if we could get in contact.
